CME analysis in progress Space Weather Prediction Center

CME analysis in progress | NOAA / NWS Space Weather Prediction Center

Forecasters are in the process of analyzing a coronal mass ejection that could reach Earth within the next two days. The CME was associated with an M5 X-ray flare (R2 radio blackout) that was observed on 4 Sep 2017 at approx 1633 EDT (04/2033 UTC). This event appears to have originated from an active sunspot region (AR2673) near the center of the solar disk. As imagery becomes available, forecasters will analyze the data to determine if and when the CME will reach Earth, and what impacts may result.
