Does the 2012 calendar of the Mayans ending as it does on December 21 truly mean the end of the world? It is possible, there are several astrological events that are all said to be due to happen on that date, events that are rare to say the least. One theory is solar flares, and the sun itself is gearing up into an active phase, with massive flares possible by that date. Venus is said to be crossing the sun at roughly the same time frame, along with a planet returning on it's 3,600 year orbit. Could all these events occurring at once spell disaster for mankind?
Are the prophecies surrounding the 2012 calendar accurate, or merely a warning to us all to take better care with how our planet is being treated by society and industry. Could all the speculation be, in fact, a self-fulfilling prophecy, one caused by our own arrogance and greed?
Severe weather, natural disasters and economic collapse could all very well play a part in the destruction of our society. Perhaps they too play a part in the grand scheme of things, the downfall of our technological era. Patterns that have not been seen in decades are emerging, causing severe weather to cause billions of dollars in damage, and lives lost.
The very age of our planet, over four billion years, would suggest the possibility that other civilizations have come and gone, leaving very few traces. What happened is a mystery, but there have been coins and other metal objects found in mining operations that were embedded in rock that dated back thousands upon thousands of years. This is rare, to be sure, but how does it get explained? There are battery remnants found at archeological digs, nails and forged coins in rocks dated back to nearly the dinosaur age. Objects which simply cannot be from the same time frame, yet there they are.
Did they all vanish without a trace, with no survivors to repopulate the land? Not likely, there would have been a few left, the ones who knew how to adapt to the changed environment they found themselves in. It would take many generations for these people to have forgotten what had been, and built what is now. Perhaps some were the creators of the 2012 calendar that so many worry about now.
